You have either entered a big-stacked tournament online or have qualified for a big tournament live. Either way playing big deep-stacked tournaments and being successful at them is a great way to earn the big bucks. Here are some tips on just how to be good at it.
Players are probably the same level as you
Don't be scared of who is sat around you, if you have played poker regularly then the chances are that you are of very similar level to the rest of the players. The chances of there being a world-class player on your table are unlikely. Even in the WSOP main event great players are about on every 4th table, so don't be put off.
You don't have to win all the chips in the first hour
The whole reason about having a deep stack is that you can bide your time if you need to. Even if the players to either side of you have 5 times your stack don't get worried. Look at how many blinds you have and if you have a healthy amount of them then you can wait to get the players' chips at a later time, or even the next day.
Play slightly different to the rest of the table
If the table is being ultra aggressive and pots are regularly being raised and then re-raised, then tighten up and only really play with super strong hands. Likewise if the table is playing very tight then look to start raising it more often, if you get re-raised by a rock then you can easily fold.
Don't lose your cool
If you take a big hit on your chips, don't worry about it, as long as your have a healthy amount of blinds, then the clock will allow you to recover and you'll have the opportunity to regain those lost chips.
Make the most out of your hands
"If you can't decide if they have nothing or something, but you can beat the something and think you'll get paid off, then go after all their chips." - Allen Cunningham
