The man with the big mouth at the table has shown that his heart is even bigger when he donated the winnings of his recent victory to charity. Tony Guoga better known simply as Tony G put the hurt on his opponents at the Moscow Millions, and then helped to ease the hurt life put on local orphans.
Tony G has been known to irritate a few people at the poker table. He sort of goes on auto pilot when he plays, ripping in on the other players about their decision making skills (something that will put a player right on tilt, which is the entire point behind his behavior) but away from the table folks say Tony is a nice guy.
I'm sure the folks at the local orphanage will have a thing or two to say about Tony this Christmas, as their coffers have been augmented by the victory cash donated by the man some call "Windbag."
Tony didn't have a walk to his win- the third place went to Alex Kravchenko, the man who plays like a machine. Alex is a Russian poker pro, and the first Russian to win a bracelet at the World Series of Poker, which he did this year, and he played in practically every event. He also made it to the final table of the main event of the WSOP, no mean feat point is the man can play poker.
The Moscow Millions was the first of its kind, and organizers were pretty happy with the results, so look for a second and third in the coming years.
The event "only" had 53 players, thanks in part to losing sponsorship with Full Tilt Poker earlier in the year. With this high profile win, however, that might change next year. Tony was especially eloquent about his delight with the layout of the tournament format.
With 90 minute levels players got to "go deep" with their strategy, without feeling rushed. Of course, you want to play plenty of hands, and waiting is no fun, so the final table sported two dealers, one keeping a deck warmed up and ready to go whilst the other was in operation. It worked for Tony G, who shipped his $205,000 top prize to a local orphanage.
If Mr. G keeps it up with the charitable behavior, it's going to get tough writing about his chatty behavior at the table. (Way to go, Tony.)
