Card Game Choices

The card game variety at Poker Stars is quite good, with both Hi-Lo versions in Omaha (also no-limit) and 7-card stud. They are leaders in not only new software implements, but also micro-limit tables (as low as $0.01$0.02) for Texas Holdem and Omaha Hi. So you'll find a variety of games here for sure, but Texas Hold'em is always boss!

Gameplay

Poker Stars offers an impressive array of tables stakes, from $0.01$0.02 on up to $100$200. They even started the micro-limit table trend. Soft Competition

Poker Stars is not going to have a lot of newbies running around their ring games due to the high level of play. In fact, the view flop percentages are definitely lower than the average around the mid-20's and low 30's. You can find some more wild and loose games in the Omaha arena where the view flops percentages get up in the 40's and 50's, but generally you are dealing with pros here. Ironically, tournaments offer the most varying level of players since Poker Stars attracts so many of them and you'll find they run the gamut of expertise. Makes the tourneys a bit more fun!

Incentives

One area that Poker Stars could beef up is in the promotions. With that said, they do have an outstanding frequent player reward scheme (called FPP) where you earn points for every raked game played (including tourneys!).You save up points to use as either cash to play, tournement entries or prizes. Also they have some frequent deposit bonuses. Sometimes you don't need a lot of glitz and glammer to get players there, and keep them.

Tournaments

Here's where the heavy action resides at Poker Stars, with top numbers for tournaments (20000-23000 players!) during peak hours, which is considerable since there is some heavy action coming in from Europe. They host all the majors and boast the traffic to provide some very interesting games. Also, their software seems to be especially built for the tournament arena with some very high tech functions to make the tournaments run smoother and fair for each player.

Poker Stars may not have telephone or chat support, but I must say they answer their email support quite fast. Within an hour you can expect to have your most burning questions answered, which is definitely above standard response times.
