Layne Flack won the Pot Limit Omaha w/rebuys Event 34 of the 2008 WSOP to win his 6th WSOP bracelet and to take his career earnings to over $4million. However it had been five long years since his last bracelet, so what happened to this enigmatic, aggressive and entertaining player in the meantime?

In 2004 Flack was admitted into rehab with a serious drink and drugs problem. Fellow poker pro Daniel Negreanu paid a substantial amount of money to help put Flack through the rehabilitation program. With his addiction now well and truly behind him the whispers in the poker community were that he could be back to his top form that had seen him win well over $3m pre-2004. This has been confirmed with the 6th of Flack's bracelets being won on the 20th June 2008.

"It's been five years," said Flack after his win. "I want to savour it a bit."

Flack grew up in Montana and became a dealer in the local casino, he started to play in other casinos after his shift had finished. He began to make decent amounts of money and moved to Las Vegas to become a full time pro. Such was his talent that Johnny Chan became a mentor to him.

Flack's first bracelet win was the 1999 $3,000 Hold'em Pot Limit, but it was in 2003 that he really became a legend and earned his nickname "Back to back". He won the WSOP $2,500 Omaha Hi-Lo Split and then the very next tournament the WSOP $1,500 Limit Hold'em Shootout to write his name in the history books.

Flack also has a WPT title to his name - which he also won in 2003 - and now that his troubles are behind him it looks like this incredibly talented pro will now return to the devastating form that he was once so feared for.
