Pete ‘The Beat’ Giordano
January 19, 2006
Throughout all the debate over who is the best poker player in the world on any given day, one thing is for certain. Pete "The Beat" Giordano has been one of the most consistently strong tournament players in the world of online poker over the past four years. During 2001, he was named the "Best All-Round Player." In 2002, Pete finished in the top five on the Tournament Leader board and has finished no lower than fifth in each ensuing year.
Pete was at one point in his life a sales representative for Hewlett-Packard, and had been playing poker for many years when back in 1998 he noticed that a large tournament was coming to the Taj Mahal Casino in Atlantic City. He played in the tournament winning first prize, and has been hooked on poker ever since.
In late 2003 Pete turned pro. His strategy is to stick with medium buy-in events online and to put up his own money for large live buy-in events. Fortunately this approach has proven to be successful, winning 4 major events in Aruba, Foxwoods, the Bahamas, and at the WSOP last year.
