Luke Abolins is Poker Pro for a Year

When Pacific Poker and parent company 888.com come out with their Poker Pro for a Year it got a lot of attention- after all they were doing what few other poker rooms would do, which was to offer not just a seat to a major poker event, but seats to four. Their contest is over, their pro for a year has been picked, and its time to look at whether or not they will run it again.

Ten poker players were flown to Australia to battle it out, the winners of a round of qualifications that saw not only Englishman Luke 'Resteal' Abolins seated at the table, but his sister Joanne Abolins as well. These siblings did very well for themselves, with Luke taking the crown and sis taking third.

They Championship took place at the Crown casino, which is convenient as the first major poker event Luke is going to participate in as part of his prize is the 2008 Aussie Millions, which is going on right now. In addition he will get a seat into the main event of the World Series of Poker and two other events as well.

Second place finisher Carlo Carione may bump heads with Abolins once more, as his reward is also a sponsorship into the 2008 Aussie Millions including. Joanne Abolins won $1,000 worth of buy ins to Pacific Poker events.
