Kevin Weisman One has to wonder how apt the name of the country rock band Trainwreck is. While he plays a decidedly odd yet brilliant agent on the TV show Alias, Kevin Weisman seems determined to have plenty of oddity in real life as well. The drummer for the band, Kevin uses an alter ego of the name Kevin Bob Thornton while he plays covers and country rock. Considering he was born in Los Angeles, California, it might be more appropriate to wonder at how normal Kevin is rather than the other way around.

A graduate of UCLA’s Theater program, Kevin went on to help found the Los Angeles theater company Buffalo Nights. Playing on the East coast as well as the West, he also studied with the Circle in the Square, a prestigious theater company in New York City. Theater and TV are one thing, but Kevin has also stepped into the Film arena when he took on a producing role for the movie Illusion with Kirk Douglas in 2004. But what about poker?

Kevin is newly come to Texas Hold’em, spending time at Kage’s Indian Casino as a way to learn the game. He seemed to learn his lessons well enough to take home a chunk of charity prize mo0ney for the Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Fund at the World Poker Tour’s fifth Hollywood Home Game, where he faced stiff competition. He ruled the table early on, with good cards backed by some solid decision making. His big mistake came mid way through the game, when he thought there were four to the flush instead of three at the turn. He folded a set of sevens under pressure from another player, loosing enough of his chip stack to put him in a weaker spot for the rest of the game. Mistakes happen, and over all he played very well for someone fairly new to the game. Hopefully we will see more of Kevin at the tables, and if Alias continues its current path towards winding down, he may have the time on his hands to do it.
