While poker players in Belgium can’t belly up to a felt covered table at their favorite casino for a cash game, they can take part in special poker tourneys. As it stands now, Belgium casinos, such as the Casino Oostende, can organize one poker tournament a year, and expect to be granted permission to open card rooms at some point in 2007.
Oostende will be organizing that one tourney a year right now, putting together the Flemish Poker Challenge, a no-limit Texas hold'em event with a buy-in of €65. There will be 8 qualification rounds with 81 players, and the €500 final is on 12th & 13th May.
